E-world and the change in a
daily life.
the amazing fruit of the civilization no more, but a daily
life
Nowadays, an e-mail attached with music and
pictures is more frequently used than plain letters, and TV
programs can be watched not only by the cable but also by
a cell phone or PDA. We can buy and sell stocks using the
internet without going to a stock market, and handle banking
without going to a bank. The internet is not the fruit of
the civilization any more, but it's a daily life.
The advent of the information-oriented housewives
The connection of the internet and the technology
have brought changes in a daily life. Alias Webssies! Webssies,
a compound of two words; Web and Missy, refers to young housewives
of late 20s through early 30s who acquire most of life information
through the internet. They are the information-oriented housewife
class who not only get the information related to child care,
shopping, and leisure life from the internet but also actively
join the online communities to be in action.
Internet, it leads the participation in society.
In the past, the politics was often sole
possession of men's. With the spread of the internet, however,
women can take part in politics in many various ways. The
horizontal structure and an open space, the main characteristics
of the internet, effectuate the electronic democracy.
Now is the time for qualitative growth of informationization
teaching.
The internet has brought us many positive
changes in our lives. At the same time, however, it has also
brought us negative effects such as discontinuation between
generations, differentiated informationization education,
an invasion of a person's privacy, the increase of the cyber
crimes and so on. With the rapid development of the internet
and the information technology, the informationization education
has come to the hover between quantitative and qualitative
growth. |

The expectations of the women
living in an aging society
My age depending on my will
Absolutely, it's not good to be old. However,
I should prepare for the new life if I can not deny the fact
the that all the living things are the happy dispensation
of Nature and heading for natural summons from the moment
of birth. I should awake myself for my aging that depends
on my own will to be kept more beautiful.
one out of two elders is 'totally not prepared''
for his/her old age
What else do I have personally to keep my
aging more beautiful? NSO(National Statistical Office) research
shows that 49.0% among householders above 60 years are not
prepared for their old age, that is, one out of two elders
is 'totally not prepared' for his/her old age.
Women in an absolute indigence under the minimum cost of living
is three times more than men, it's reality.
It's so grim reality that women above 65
can not take part in economic activities even though the medical
development can let them. In case of the public pension, men
annuitants are more than women, so that's the reason for the
larger number of women in indigence than that of men.
Our expectation for the beautiful old age
Aging depends on one's will. If the psychological
preparation for the beautiful old age lies on one's heart,
the realistic preparation lies on the person's ability and
society. |

'Human Rights' due without discrimination,
acknowledging others' lives
Human rights hidden our livelihood spread their wings.
Nowadays, the term 'human rights' is freely
used, but there once was a time when people could not use
this strange term. In Korean communities in the 21th century,
however, it is becoming a main topic.
In some respect. all women's movements are
the movements for human rights of women's
The concept of human rights is very inclusive.
Human rights are the basic inalienable rights for human to
enjoy and to be secured without any reason. When being violated,
the responsibility for that lasts from past, through present
and to the future. And my own rights can never violate others'.

Playing is more serious than
living!!
A new point of view on playing
Huizinga, a cultural historian, defined the
human being as Homo Ludens, which refers to human being who
plays. He tells us that human being without the culture of
playing no longer has any reason for existence, and all the
activities of human being heads for the one end, playing.
All work and no play makes a fool?
Why do people willingly play? And why is
playing needed in our lives? We can find the exact and clear
answer to these questions in an English saying 'All work and
no play makes Jack a dull boy'.
Playing culture changing as if it has its own will to live.
Playing changes. It has been changed over
and over again following the subjects of playing and the environment
around it as if it has its own will to live. Playing in modern
times is to relieve the fatigue effectively in a short time
unlike playing in the past. Its pattern has been changed from
public playing to playing featured by a leader.
Free excitement and re-creating, the core
of playing
There are more chances to play, and more
kinds of playing or play grounds than ever. Nonetheless, people
say that there is playing but there is not playing culture.
This is because the playing culture is not determined by the
kinds or chances of playing. Now we need to establish the
new recognition on playing and playing culture. |

Now it's time for NQ(Network
Quotient)!
'Q, Q, Q.....', Community requests various Qs.
The term 'Quotient' has been prevailed in
our community from some time, and this term has been being
focused on according to the environment of the times and the
social backgrounds of which demands are changing.
NQ, pursuit of new happiness in the 21th
century.
All sort of Qs previously mentioned refer
to personal ability and capability in some respect. Our community
is changing into the one where a person can never be happy
on his/her own ability.
My happiness with your happiness
NQ(Network Quotient) was created by Prof.
Kim Mu-kon(the dept. of Journalism and Broadcasting, Dongkuk
Univ.). In short, NQ is the quotient that lays emphasis on
the importance of human relationship. Namely, it is the quotient
which measures how well a person manages the relationship
among people living around himself/herself. |

Dad and Honey, Let's do it together!
32 mins. vs 141 mins.
Men in Korea spare only 32 minutes a day
on the average for housework, while French daddies spare more
than 141 minutes a day for housework such as doing dishes,
babysitting, cleaning and so on.
Dual-income housewives do 7 times more housework
than their husbands do.
The National Statistical Office announced
the result of "research on the time of daily living 2004"
some time ago. From that result, It is true that we have been
in great illusion thinking that husbands are taking active
part in housework and child care.
A French Daddy, the most exemplary patriarchy
in the world.
Are husbands in other countries also not
cooperative in housework like those in Korea? A few years
ago, French dads ranked the highest and won the grand prix
in the weekly housework time on the average in Europe by INSEE.
Are you a super woman too?
As women's position in the modern society
is getting higher comparing to that in the past, the logic
that housework is only for the women should be resolutely
abolished. Though the world has been changed, demanding a
heavy burden from women still exists. A superwoman? Gee!
Then what if a man takes place of woman's as a Superman? |

The eternal issue of mankind, family
Dismantlement or change
In May, what we call ‘the Home Month’, we frequently
hear words ‘family dismantlement phenomenon’.
Of course, the words such as ‘the loss of family unity’
or ‘family dismantlement’ never have positive
meanings. Instead, they represent concerns about Korean society
in which we are seeing a skyrocketing divorce rate, more people
not wanting to marry and low birth rate.
Home is the place where you can find peace
and take refuge from the pain, fears, doubts and disruption
that you feel in the world.
Parents should teach their children the values of marriage
and family and show them that family spirit is alive and well.
And let’s look at various family forms with our eyes
wide open. |
|
 |
 |
 |
In this issue, we ran a special
feature about marriage.
This special feature is composed of on-site interviews
with men wanting to marry and women not wanting to marry under
the subject “Is marriage worth 100,000 dollars?”.
Here are what they told us about marriage.
Now, a nuclear family era in which a husband
makes money and a wife does housework, is gone.
With an increasing number of females having opportunities
to work in the society, women have started to declare that
they will not sacrifice themselves any longer for the family’s
health, welfare, safety and taking care of kids and seniors
without pay.
Most women said if men and women don’t share housework
burden together, single women would continue to feel doubts
about marriage. In addition, even married women hesitate to
get a divorce or not for their own happiness. Meanwhile, men
say that they want to marry but feel burdens. Most males want
to marry for a stable life but reserve it due to economic
burdens such as buying a house. Despite this, a lot of men
said they want to marry, to be honest. |

Jealousy, stand for good
Men’s jealousy, women’s jealousy
Women are jealous. However, men are jealous, too. They just
don’t express it.
Society suffering from jealousy
We are not controlling our emotions as we are blinded by jealousy
in a too fierce competition and the unstable structure of
the society.
Jealousy, stand for good
We have to learn how to control our jealousy. It begins when
we listen to ourselves and try to truly know about ourselves
and our weakest points. Your jealousy would turn into a growth
engine for self-development only when you find your weak points
and try to change them instead of just feeling uneasy.
